11 Ways to Use Less Energy in 2011

1.       Power down or unplug computers, TV, cell phone chargers while at work or during the night

2.      Use a laptop rather than your desktop

3.      Open all vents in your home to prevent static pressure build-up and decreased AC efficiency

4.      Wrap your water heater and all accessible hot and cold pipes in an insulating blanket or wrap

5.      Remove shade screens during the winter and clean and replace them in the summer

6.      Close and lock all windows to prevent air leakage

7.      Caulk around all plumbing penetrations under sinks and lavatories

8.     Remove a second refrigerator in the garage

9.      Install a programmable thermostat and set the programs to adjust the temperature while you are away or during the day
