As homeowners, it’s smart to try to lower our utility bills by turning up the thermostat while away, especially during APS and SRP peak hours, but wouldn’t it be great to be able to lower our bills, extend the life of our AC systems by 5 years or more and make our homes more comfortable... all without having to change a thing about how we manage our energy usage (aka sweat our butts off)?

With all the time you spend going to work, running errands and keeping up with your daily demands you probably don’t think twice about your utility bills.

Well we found that those out-of-sight, out-of-mind costs are more like a hole in your gas tank leaving a trail of gas everywhere you drive… very wasteful and highly inefficient.

Here is a quick check you can perform to see if you are spending more on your utility bills than you should be...

Picture
Did you answer “Yes” to any of the questions listed above?  Well you may have some hidden surprised lurking in your home or attic.

There’s good news: Now you can transform your home into an energy efficient home that performs like a fine engineered car.

APS and SRP will even pick up the tab.  In fact, they will even pay for 75% of the cost of a home energy upgrade.

Why would APS and SRP pay you to lower your utility bills?

They have been mandated by the federal government to reduce their consumption by 20% by 2020 and frankly it’s a lot less costly to lower consumption than it is to build a whole new power plant but these rebates won’t last for long so read on to learn how we have helped thousands of homeowners claim their federal dollars and how you can receive the same benefits already set aside for you by the utility companies.

Quick Break! Read what our clients are saying below

“The whole family can finally agree on a temperature setting”

My wife is probably my most important testimonial.  You see, when I started Green ID in 2009, I upgraded our home’s insulation, ductwork and air leaks and boy, what a difference it has made.  People say a happy marriage is a happy wife and I will silently agree to that one.  Why?  Well, life before was something like this…our entire upstairs was much hotter than the rest of the house…her allergies were worse inside than outside…our bills reached $350 on a 2,100 sq ft home even with Mr. Conservative managing our usage and I was at constant battle with my teenage daughter trying to save energy because she just wants to be cool in her room-cave.  So after performing an energy audit on our house I found 8 specific areas I could improve on.  Here are some of the improvement areas:

1-     INSUATION was installed completely wrong, rendering it almost totally ineffective

2-     AIR DUCTS were losing 33% of its air into the attic which I verified with my thermal camera

3-     AIRFLOW and ductwork was poorly designed and barely reached my daughter’s room

4-     WINDOWS needed shade screens along the south, west and east facing windows

The surprising thing is that after doing more than a thousand audits over the years, I’ve found that most houses have these same defects!  So after I did the work to our home my wife had become our first raving fan.  She told our neighbors and even my mother about the even temperatures and how our entire home is comfortable all day long… her allergies are much better and I actually stopped snoring at night…our 15 year old AC runs less, is quieter and I haven’t replaced any parts in 5 years and counting… we dust and clean our dressers and furniture less… and our utility bills are lower!

Sound Good?

If you want to save money on your energy costs call (602) 730-2966 to schedule or book online here.

Start with a SRP/APS sponsored home energy audit for only $99 and we’ll give you a $50 gas card absolutely free, no strings attached.  If you refer a family member or neighbor for an audit, I’ll double the gift and we will bring two $50 gas cards so your audit is at no cost.

Personal Note: As attractive as this offer is, our marketing experts tell us that only about half of the people receiving it will respond.  Although that’s okay with us from a business standpoint, it still bothers me personally.  You see, I know how much homeowners benefit from it.  I read their letters; I talk to them on the phone; I see them personally, and hundreds each year tell me that “this was the best investment they have ever made and that they noticed an immediate difference in their comfort.”  Because of this, I just hate the thought of someone not getting our offer due to some error or omission in our explanation.

That’s why I held a special brainstorming session with a group of people just to try and figure out why you might say “no” to our discounted offer.  After several hours, our group could think of only four possible reasons.

Here they are:

1.     My house is in pretty good shape already.  Even if your home is fairly new our auditors have found major problems in homes that are only 2 years old and were certified as Energy Star Homes!  The reason being was that a builder only needs to prove compliance with one house in a subdivision, not all the homes will get checked.  If you are one of those people, I give you this acid test: if you are paying less than $100 per 1,000 sq ft (your high bill is $200 on a 2,000 sq ft home) you are probably in good shape.  We never really know until we test it and run the model on your home so it is best to have it checked out by a professional.

2.     I’m skeptical you are going to try to sell me something.  Because we are certified APS and SRP Home Performance Contractors and facilitate their great rebate program, we must follow their strict guidelines to remain in the program… frankly, they are looking over our shoulders on everything we do.  Our jobs are checked by a utility company quality control specialist after our work is complete and in fact they regularly kick contractors who don’t comply with quality and workmanship standards out of the program.  If we sell you something that you don’t need, that is grounds for immediate suspension and I have built my company on quality work and customer satisfaction so that is the last thing I want to do.  I believe in the work we do and am passionate about doing it right and have passed it on to my team.  Take a look at what our clients are saying on the last page.

3.     I can’t afford it.  For only $50 after your $50 gas card, our auditors are crawling, climbing and inspecting your home and attic for 2-3 hours with over $4,000 of specialized equipment to diagnose your home and offer practical solutions to save you real money on your bills and fix your hot rooms.  Also just by performing your energy audit you receive a gift bag of energy saving devices.  It is filled with CFL light bulbs which use 80% less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and low flow aerators and showerhead for your bathrooms to cut down on hot water use.  By installing these devices you are going to save more than $80 a year off your utility bills which would more than pay for the audit plus you are going to have a customized roadmap for your home with easy DIY tips included so you can save even more money.  Why pay APS / SRP more than you have to when you could be pocketing that money for something else.

4.     My home is far too underwater to be making any improvements to.  According to the latest Cromford Index, Phoenix home values are up 21.7%!  There has never been a better time to make improvements on your home that are proven to sell at a higher value and twice as fast than a comparable home with no upgrades made.

30-40% more energy than needed and that simple changes to a home to increase its energy efficiency can eliminate wasted energy use.

An energy efficient home means...

  • Lower energy bills each month without you changing a thing
  • Even temperatures throughout your home that make that on cold or hot room livable again
  • A heating and cooling system that runs less and doesn't wake you up every time it turns on
  • A more efficient, and extended life of the heating and cooling system
  • Better indoor air quality and less dusting the furniture
Picture
  • The most energy efficient homes pay no more than $100 per 1,000 square feet on their highest energy bill and guess what?... their low bills are not because these homes have the latest energy saving technology, highest SEER heating and cooling system or even because it is a new home...

A Home Energy Audit Is Your First Line Of Defense Against APS/SRP Rate Hikes

Picture
An energy audit uses the latest testing equipment and diagnostic tools to identify the causes of comfort issues and high energy bills.  We are all too familiar with all the ways contractors can cut corners and we have found many of the same features in homes built between 1980 - 2010 that are red flags for us that we pay extra attention to during our audit as seen in the photos below...

We are passionate about high quality construction and will measure the air and duct leakage of your home, inspect your insulation for defects, use a thermal camera and perform many other tests as part of the audit.

An energy audit will find:

• where you are wasting money on utility bills

 • the root causes of hot or cold uncomfortable rooms

 • the causes of excessive dust and indoor allergens

What Others Are Saying...

Great service‎, I highly recommend David and Green Integrated Design! David did an extremely thorough job on analyzing our home. He went the extra mile to ensure that each of our units were analyzed and immediately pointed out areas where we could change things slightly and see significant impact. The end report exceeded our expectations for its completeness and quality. I think everyone should not only have an audit of this type performed. If you're going to do so, you NEED to use David and Green Integrated Design to get the best results.
Edward, Ahwatukee

I have noticed a difference in the main living area and this month our APS bill is closer to what I think it should be.

Highly Recommend‎‎, David and Green Integrated Design were great! They conducted a comprehensive energy audit of our house this summer. Before the report was available, he gave us suggestions for improvements. After our additions (minor and in-depth), the follow-up audit was the same--thorough and professional. We can already feel the efficiencies. Thanks!
Carol, Glendale

The auditors were knowledgeable and respectful.

Green Integrated Design recently completed an energy audit of my house. Before the report was even sent to me, David had some great ideas for ways I could reduce energy consumption and waste in my house. I was able to start making low-cost upgrades immediately. David was very knowledgeable and helpful. It was also clear he wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the audit process - he didn't rush it and checked that I understood what was going on. He let me see the measuring instruments and how they operated so I could know how the house was being evaluated. I'd definitely recommend him and Green Integrated Design.‎

David performed an energy audit of our home. He was extremely detailed and thorough during the inspection, and his post-audit report was exemplary, going into great detail concerning recommended improvements and projected savings. His work helped us determine which improvements were worth doing, and which were better put off for the future. We saved approximately $50 a month on utility bills the summer following our implementation of his recommendations

The 9 Things You Should ALWAYS Do to Lower Your Utility Bills
  1. Regularly remove the refrigerator exhaust panel on the bottom of the unit and clean the coils with a wire brush and rag for better heat transfer
  2. Pre-cool your home to 8% below of your regular temperature one hour before your peak-hour starts then raise the temperature up during on-peak hours
  3. Remove shade screens in the winter to let the most amount of daylight heat your home naturally
  4. Buy a 4 x 8 sheet of foam board at the hardware store and cut it into 2 x 3 rectangles. Glue 4-5 of these on top of your attic hatch for maximum protect
  5. Make sure all your windows are locked shut for a good seal
  6. Turn down the temperature of your water heater to 130 degrees, this is still hot enough to burn you but your water heater will run less
  7. Wrap the water heater in an insulation blanket and insulating pipe sleeves for the hot and cold water lines
  8. Use a smart strip on your plug loads to automatically turn off power when you are not using electronics
  9. Keep your interior doors open to keep a good circulation of air flow in your house. Did you know that interior doors are the cause of the highest energy loss out of all the doors in your house (more than doggie doors, sliding doors and exterior doors).
